The Local Plan 2042 from Sevenoaks District Council (SDC) launched on 23 October 2025, and closes on 11 December 2025.

The Government’s new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) introduced the Grey Belt designation. Following SDC’s review of the District’s Green Belt, the Council now claims that only eight sites in the district remain true Green Belt and do not fall within the new Grey Belt definition. We need to carefully review this information and form our own view — much of this land was previously identified as strongly performing Green Belt.

Each Parish Council will be discussing the plan at upcoming meetings. Please attend your next meeting to:

Ask questions
Hear different viewpoints
Seek guidance on responding to the consultation survey

SDC are also holding ‘Pop-up’ sessions, which must be booked in advance (a change from previous consultations). You cannot just turn up. Book via: www.sevenoaks.gov.uk/emerginglocalplan or call 01732 227000. Suggested questions to pose to them will be circulated shortly. In the meantime, please book a space.

Consultation materials are available at local libraries, town and parish council offices, and SDC’s offices.

What You Can Do Now

Raise awareness with neighbours and friends who might not know about the consultation
Attend Parish Council meetings
